What are these doodling squiggly lines on the leaves? Is it a disease or pest infestation? How can we prevent it?

This is what we call “Leaf Traveler – Leaf Miner”.

Leaf Miner

Myth 1: How are the lines formed on the leaves?

The Leaf Miner lays its eggs between the leaf surfaces. After hatching, the larvae burrow inside the leaves, creating trail-like patterns.

Myth 2: What kind of impact does it have on plants?

Leaf Miners can be quite damaging to plants, potentially causing poor leaf growth. In severe cases, it can lead to yellowing leaves and leaf drops, and even affect the quality and yield of crops.

Myth 3: Which crops are commonly susceptible to this pest?

Leaf Miners pose a threat to a wide range of crops, including:

Leafy vegetables

Melons & fruits

Legumes

Prevention method:

1. It is recommended to trim off the leaves with leaf miner track.

2. Apply Dr Neem on the surface and underneath the leaves once a week as a preventive measure.

⚠️For severe cases, you may apply it every 3 days for optimal control.
